National Research Tomsk State University (TSU) is a state research university located in the Russian city of Siberia. It is the oldest Asian university in Russia, founded on May 28, 1878 by order of Alexander II (ruler of Russia at the time) and initially functioned only as a higher education institution for the training of government employees. The university has undergone many changes since then, and after some time since its establishment as a high-ranking Russian university, it has entered the field of competition with other Russian universities as well as the world. During this period, the students of this university have been able to bring more than 50 governmental awards and 2 Nobel Prizes to TSU. Tomsk State University currently has 20 faculties, 151 departments, 33 science schools and about 23,000 students, of which about 2,000 are international students and have been admitted to the university from 70 countries. The University and its more than 150,000 graduates have all contributed to the scientific, educational and cultural development of the region and Russia in general.

TSU has been a member of the European University Association (EUA) since 2006. Student Life

The campus occupies a forested area south-central Tomsk and has a set of public and educational buildings. It also has 10 museums, a herbarium (collection of dried plants), a Siberian botanical garden, a swimming pool, a cultural center, a research library, residences and several world-class laboratories.

Tomsk State University Library holds 4 million copies of various books and transcripts and is known as one of the largest student libraries in Russia and one of the richest databases in Siberia. This building belongs to 1888 and is designed as a special object of cultural heritage of the people of the Russian Federation. The university has also established a botanical garden that covers about 128 hectares of land. Students of natural sciences and biological sciences can easily do their research. Since TSU University has always been committed to innovation, they were able to open Russia’s first technology park on university campus in 1993. In 2010, the university was awarded the title of National Education and established the importance of its work at the national level.

One of the good features of this university is its dormitory, which was built in 2014 and has a capacity of over 4,000 people to accommodate international students. The dormitory is located 5-10 minutes from the main and central campus of the university and students can walk to their faculties in a few minutes. The dormitory rooms are designed for 3 or 4 students and have the services and equipment needed for a student life. Students have a comfortable living environment with facilities including dining rooms, kitchens, sports rooms, laundry and all the necessary social infrastructure for student accommodation. Each room has a separate hallway, bathroom and shower. there is a place to study, relax and socialize in the large hall. The dormitory is equipped with modern audio-visual facilities, fiber optic network, ATMs and washing machine. There are also modern cafés in the dormitory. The dormitory is located in the city center and close to the necessary infrastructure for living.

Tomsk State University has also opened the largest hiking skate in Siberia in front of the dormitory, and in the summer, the ridge turns into a beautiful lake. Additionally, Special attention is paid to safety in the construction of the residence, the residence hall is equipped with modern security systems, including a reliable video surveillance system.

FMM has made significant contributions to the development of mathematical studies and mathematics education in Siberia. The faculty offers students in fields of Mathematics, Mathematics & Computer Science and Mathematical Modeling.

Faculty of Physics

The students of the faculty receive comprehensive training in the field of physics, both basic and applied, which is why the graduates of this faculty will not have a problem finding a job in the future. Most of them become executives. The faculty prepare students in the fields of Physics of Kinetic Phenomena, Dynamics and Strength of Machines, Robots and Robotic Systems, Design and Manufacture of Composite Materials, Ballistics.

Faculty of History and Political Studies

After the first year of study, students can receive practical training in ethnography and archeology. Students are excavating in the Tomsk region and other parts of Siberia and are conducting anthropological studies in other countries. International relations students often take practical courses in China, Taiwan and Belgium. They learn European languages (English, French and German) and Oriental languages (Chinese, Korean and Japanese) in the faculty. FHPS provides education to students of History, International Relations, Document and Archive Science, International Area Studies, Russian Area Studies.

Faculty of Economics and Management

Today, economics is one of the most popular fields. Biological Institute

The Department of Biology was established after the opening of the university in 1885. This institute is one of the largest university institutes.
