The university was established in 1937 as a language school, whose aim was to educate English, German and French teachers for secondary schools. School of linguistics, pedagogics and psychology:
The oldest and the pioneering faculty of the university, the linguistics faculty was established in 1937 as the institute of English, German and French languages. Later, it developed to be the faculty of linguistics. Nowadays, this faculty specializes at the language teaching methodology and teacher training courses mainly. Students can study at the BA and Ma levels here, but unfortunately no PhD courses are taught here. The faculty only offers 3 programs on the BA level and 9 on MA level.
Faculty of international relations and world politics:
This faculty was established on the basis of economy, management and international relations and offers 2 programs in BA level and 5 programs in the MA level.
School of translation and interpreting:
Besides the linguistics university of Moscow, this faculty is the oldest and the most traditional translation school all over Russia. The faculty was established at 1962 and has been educating translators of different languages ever since then.
