Nizhny Novgorod Lobachevsky University of Russia (UNN) was established as the Russian University of Sciences in 1916. Lobachevsky University was the first higher education institution to be established in the city of Nizhny Novgorod. After the merger of the Polytechnic Institute, Lobachevsky University became a state university. The university has about 16,000 students, of which about 2,000 are international students.
